Publishing your site with
DreamWeaver
If you are building your web site using
Macromedia's DreamWeaver then you have at
your disposal a very powerful FTP publishing
service which is fully supported by your
DotNetted hosting account.
DreamWeaver's FTP system is able to synchronise
your local and remote sites selecting which
files are newer and copy newer files across
to ensure that your site files are always
up to date.
Enabling DreamWeaver to
publish your files
Open DreamWeaver and open the site properties
window for the site you wish to publish
to your DotNetted account.
Click on 'Remote Info' and in the 'Remote
Info' screen enter the following :
For 'Access Type' choose 'FTP'
For 'FTP Host' enter your domain name proceeded
by ftp. e.g. ftp.yoursite.co.uk
Leave 'Host Directory' empty
For 'Login' enter your account ftp username
For 'Password' enter your account ftp password
Now click the 'Test' button to check that
DreamWeaver can connect to your account
ok.
Note : Some
firewall configurations can cause DreamWeaver
problems connecting to your account - if
you're able to make the initial connection
but it fails when attempting to list or
copy files try toggling the 'Use Passive
FTP' setting in the DreamWeaver site setup
'Remote Info' screen and retry.
